Community Support

Useful Information to support you during self-isolation and social distancing

During the period you have been advised to self-isolate and social distancing you may want to access groups and support within the community to enable you to maintain social contact, receive food and/or meal deliveries or to arrange for your medicines to be delivered.

We hope the following information will be helpful during this time to enable you to make arrangements if you do not have family, neighbours or friends available to support you.

Food Provision

A number of supermarkets and food delivery companies are prioritising older and vulnerable people in terms of on-line order delivery e.g. Sainsbury’s and Iceland.  When placing an on-line order you will be asked if you fall into one of the priority groups and if you confirm you do you will be able to access a delivery date with priority over those who are not in one of the groups. (see below for links)

Staying Safe

We want to make sure that the most vulnerable are safe while they are self-isolating. Here are some things to think about while you are observing social distancing and are offered, or need support during this time:

Try to use trusted community groups. If not, could a family member, friend or neighbour who you know and trust help?

  • Not sure? Don’t answer the door. Don’t open the door to people you don’t know.

  • Don’t invite strangers into your home.

  • Don’t give strangers cash or your debit or credit cards with the PIN number.  For advice and warnings about scams visit the Council website page

  • If you’re not sure about the person offering you help, ask them to leave their details and talk to someone you trust about it.

If you have a concern regarding someone you know visit

To report any concerns, contact Adult Social Care Direct on 024 7683 3003 or email Remember, if it's an emergency, dial 999.
